Student Research Position - Bilingual Candidates Needed
WIPAC is looking for an undergraduate student to joint the outreach team. He/she will work on a bilingual (English/Spanish) project targeting students, teachers and families in and around Madison. The overall goal is to promote interest in STEM careers by engaging in physics and astronomy research done at UW-Madison. This is a joint project of WIPAC and UW Space Place, in collaboration with Centro Hispano.
10-15 hours/week
Work Schedule: Flexible hours, established around class schedule. Must be able to work Monday-Friday between 8:00AM and 5:00PM, and occasionally (less than once per month) evenings or weekends.
The student will:
Create/update/proof/verify content for the project website.
Assist professional staff with communication and outreach activities, as needed.
Proof project communications and reports, including leaflets or grant proposals.
Create/update publications (ex. brochures, student/teacher guides, survey results)
Assist in the management of related social media accounts including providing content, tracking metrics and creating strategies to increase participation.
Gather and compile data for analysis and reports.
Provide project support for other professional staff, as needed.
Experience required:
Writing and communication skills in English and Spanish. Native Spanish speaker or equivalent fluency.
Interest in or currently studying STEM-related programs preferred.
Previous experience in web content creation and management, as well as in social media, would be a plus.

The Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) at Northwestern University offers a 9-week paid summer Research Experience for Undergraduates program.
